CrossFit Energy is first and foremost dedicated to changing the lives of all age groups. From children 6 to Senior Citizens, we are focused on improving every life we can touch.

CrossFit Energy is different from anything that has ever been introduced to this area.  Most gyms offer elaborate treadmills and expensive equipment. They offer high priced memberships hoping that the majority of their clients will never come. These “other gyms” are missing out on the big picture.

At CrossFit Energy, we offer the idea of fitness and all its entities. We are in this industry to change lives; change people’s way of thinking; change peoples way of obtaining their fitness goals. We are offering a “Back to Basics” atmosphere instead of a Country Club “Glitz and Glamour” ambiance.

We specialize in small group fitness training, private training sessions, and nutritional counseling. You will find our workouts to be more effective than spending hours on a treadmill or weight machines. What’s great is we can accommodate all ages and fitness levels!

How does CrossFit Energy compare to “box gyms” like Fitness 19, Fitworks, Curves and 24 Hour Fitness? How can working out with a personal trainer in your home or in a garage be better than working out in a large gym with lots of machines, aerobics classes and much more space? 1. The Power of Camaraderie. In the “box gym”, no one wants you to succeed. They don’t care if you get a new personal record, your first pull-up, or do perfect squats. At CrossFit Energy, you will always train with a certified CrossFit and ACE certified trainer who focuses around your success. You may also train with other CrossFitters who really do want you to do great. We celebrate everyone’s victories and don’t hesitate to shout out encouragement to help you lock out your shoulder press, finish your burpees or get a pull-up. Our trainers and members will not let you fail.

2. Instruction and Attention. We’re not like regular gym trainers that prevent you from fully understanding their program to protect their job security. Our goal is not to make you dependent upon us so that you have to keep coming back. Our goal is to get you results. And we hope that you’ll come back because of the results and our community.

3. Increased Fitness and Real Results. A typical gym workout consists of isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions. The mainstream fitness community leads you to believe that lateral raises, curls, leg extensions and the like, combined with long sessions on the stationary bike or treadmill are going to pave the road to fitness. At CrossFit we work exclusively with compound movements and shorter, but higher intensity cardiovascular sessions. Why? Because compound functional movements and relatively high intensity exercise is radically more effective at eliciting nearly any desired fitness result.

4. Break Free of Routine. Three sets of 10 is not what we do. We use various functional movements, like deadlifts, squats, dips, pull-ups, push-ups, cleans, presses and sit-ups. We run, bike, jump, throw and try new sports. We mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Our workouts are exciting, fun and intense. Routine is our enemy.

Training Philosophy

CrossFit Energy training will help you excel at any and all activities by providing you with functional skills that are transferable to all aspects of life. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program focused on constantly varied, functional movements executed at a relatively high intensity.

We use movements that utilize multiple joints and muscles, which require core stabilization and total body coordination. We vary mode, exercise, metabolic pathway, rest, intensity, sets and reps. This produces fun workouts that yield functional results faster than traditional weight lifting and cardio regimens.

CrossFit Energy focuses on ten physical skills to promote fitness: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, speed, flexibility, power, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy. Balancing your training across these ten domains will help you perform better at every task imaginable. We do not specialize in any one of these skills, but focus on creating well-rounded athletes. By combining these skills into single workouts we create a training program that will produce the greatest results possible.

Our training is scalable to all levels. CrossFit has been used by MMA fighters as well as housewives, businessmen and the elderly. The workout that challenges an elite athlete will have a toned down equivalent for a beginner – less weight, fewer reps, more rest…whatever is required. Functionality

CrossFit Energy endeavors to lead a revolution in fitness training. Our methods are a radical departure from the ineffectual, non-functional training found in most gyms. We’re waging this revolution in our garage, at the park, and in your home. It starts with functional training.

What is functional training?

The bulk of human action is comprised of a limited number of irreducible fundamental movements. These fundamental movements are what we call functional. Functional movements comprise functional training. Some functional movements we employ include squats, deadlifts, cleans, running/walking, jumping, throwing, climbing and pressing. Functional training utilizes movements most representative of natural movement and are all transferable to things we do in our everyday life. Here are some examples:

  • We do a partial squat every time we stand up from a chair and a full squat if we’re getting up from the ground
  • We deadlift every time we lift something off the ground such as groceries, kids or boxes
  • We clean to get those objects to our arms or shoulders
  • We press to get objects overhead, such as getting boxes to a top shelf

These functional movements use essential and universal motor recruitment patterns found in sports and life. Ideally, the movement should transport either the body or an external object practically and efficiently from one point to another. To do this, the movements recruit a wave of contraction from core to extremity.
Curls, lateral raises, leg extensions and cable cross-overs have no place in our training. These aforementioned non-functional movements have a blunted neuroendocrine response and work only one joint at a time. CrossFit Energy replaces these inefficient exercises with the deadlift, clean, squat and jerk, which are functional, multi-joint movements.

Functional training will benefit everyone. For the elderly, functional movements transfer into independent living. You squat to stand up. You deadlift your grandchildren to pick them up. These seemingly simple tasks become harder as we age. Functional fitness can completely reverse your current state of strength and fitness, allowing you to be independent longer. For the athlete, functional training means better coordination, agility, balance, speed and power. All of which will help your game.

Functional movements are important to everyone’s fitness. There is no circumstance of disability, gender, age, stature, weight or fitness level that reduces the need, safety or effectiveness of functional movement.

Benefits of Functional Training:

PREPAREDNESS
General physical preparedness (GPP) prevents injury, increases work threshold and is the basis of any sport specific training and elite performance. The key features of GPP and CrossFit are functionality, generality and intensity. Functional movements better prepare you for everyday tasks as well as unknown circumstances; CrossFit athletes have done very well in competitions based on skills and activities for which they have had little or no training.

CORE STRENGTH
Core strength and midline stability involves the transfer of significant forces through the trunk. This may be through rotation, as in punching, kicking or throwing, or through maintaining a rigid torso, as in the deadlift and Olympic lifts. The movements we employ in our functional training make Swiss ball crunches superfluous. There is no need for added “ab work”. Through functional training, your core will be stronger than ever.

SAFETY
Functional movements support and protect joint and tissue integrity at any loading parameter via biomechanical efficiency and sound motor recruitment patterns. This makes functional training safer than non-functional training, which does not provide this benefit. Non-functional movements create muscle imbalance, promote faulty motor recruitment patterns and compromise joint integrity.

REHABILITATION
Functional movements are also the basis for dramatically effective rehabilitation from injury and illness. Functional movement coupled with common sense and patience offer the quickest path to full habilitation and is the future of physical therapy

Variability

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Is this where you are with your fitness program?

CrossFit Energy training provides a constantly varied stimulus to prepare you for anything that may come your way. Our aim is to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible. Our specialty is not specializing. This leaves you prepared for any sport you play, and activity or hobby you like, and any unforeseen events that may occur.

Our training is limited only by our imagination and will power. Each workout adds a different aspect to our training program. By varying mode, intensity, reps, sets and rest, each workout offers a distinctly unique metabolic stimulus. Some workouts provide more strength work, while others have a stronger aerobic flavor. Others work with anaerobic intervals and some incorporate maximum efforts or loads.

The fact that every day is a different workout can be scary or liberating, depending on your temperament. Rest assured we will never ask you to do anything beyond your abilities. All our movements are scalable or can be altered to fit your specific needs.

Why is constantly varied exercise better than sticking to a routine?

  • Repeating the same exercise for long periods of time will reduce it’s effectiveness.
  • Varied exercises increases the chances that you will stick to the program. The University of Florida actually did a study that confirms this. Find it here.

One of the most routine exercise programs out there is Curves. These franchises are opening in every city across the United States. While doing something is always better than doing nothing, the Curves program may hinder your results and prevent you from achieving your goals. Why? Well, if you don’t die from boredom first, you could be sidelined from an overuse injury. If you are lucky and make it through unscathed, you will likely reach a plateau due to the lack of variation.
